Welcome to the official website of the Grand Valley State University Men's and Women's Wrestling Club, one of the most accomplished programs in National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) history.

Since our founding in 2000–2001, the Lakers have established a tradition of championship wrestling, capturing eight NCWA National Team Championships (five Traditional and three Dual), six national runner-up finishes, and 19 Conference Championships. Our women's program has added to that legacy with three consecutive Great Lakes Conference Championships (2024–2026).

Behind those championships stands a remarkable history of individual achievement. Over the past 25 years, 92 Lakers have earned 162 All-American honors, while 17 wrestlers have captured 23 Individual National Championships. The program has also produced two NCWA Most Outstanding Wrestlers and earned four National Coach of the Year honors. These accomplishments reflect generations of athletes and coaches who have helped establish Grand Valley State as a respected name in collegiate wrestling.

Competing against club and varsity programs from the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA, GVSUWC wrestlers regularly test themselves against some of the toughest collegiate competition in the country. Every practice, tournament, and championship provides another opportunity to sharpen our skills, challenge our limits, and carry forward the tradition established by those who wore the Laker singlet before us.

Our program also offers something deeply personal: an opportunity to continue the journey. Whether an athlete is pursuing a national championship, returning to wrestling after time away, or discovering new potential, the GVSU Wrestling Club provides a community built around shared struggle, accountability, and the relentless pursuit of improvement.

Our expectations are simple: Show up. Be prepared. Score bonus points. We embrace a 0–0 mindset, approaching every match as a fresh opportunity to compete, adapt, and overcome. Success is earned through daily commitment, disciplined preparation, and the willingness to confront challenges head-on.

At the heart of our program is the ANCHORED philosophy, which emphasizes personal responsibility, perseverance, leadership, and growth. We believe the qualities forged through wrestling extend far beyond the mat, shaping how our athletes approach their education, careers, families, and communities.

The championships tell our history. The athletes carry our legacy. Those willing to step onto the mat and earn it will determine what comes next.
