Reflective Portfolio
An important component of the CLAS Voyage is the Reflective Portfolio. Starting in your first year, you will keep a digital folder of reflections assigned to you throughout your program. You will be asked to reflect on what you’ve learned in a particular course or experience, and make connections to your field of study, as well as your career and life aspirations. You will be encouraged to think about your purpose and passions. And you will also be able to reflect back and see your growth from when you started at GVSU to when you walk across the stage at graduation.
Fuel Your Growth
The materials in your portfolio will be unique to you and reflect your program of study. It might include a paper from your first writing class, a video from an art project, a podcast you created, or a research paper you developed during an Experiential Learning course. Some of the materials might be for outside audiences, such as a community partner, while others will be reflections on learning that only you and your professor have read. Whatever the specifics of your portfolio, it will be a tool that helps you demonstrate your skills, knowledge, and capacity for growth to future employers or educational programs. During your final year of study, in your Capstone course, you’ll spend time reviewing what you have collected, synthesizing your work, considering your growth, and identifying how to apply it in your future.
