Welcome to the CLAS MotorPool.

This service is available to GVSU CLAS faculty and staff on a first-come, first-served basis and is provided at no cost. Each van can transport up to fifteen students, including the driver.  To provide barrier-free learning opportunities outside the classroom, CLAS has three 15-passenger vans available to faculty for use in school-related activities on a first-come, first-served basis.

RESERVE A VAN

Once a driver has registered and completed the orientation. Drivers can now reserve a CLAS Van by using the Van Reservation Link.

What happens after my reservation goes to “pending” status?

Your reservation will be sent to Heather Shenefield to check the calendar and approve or deny the request.

Creating a CLAS Van Reservation in RMS

Step 1: Open RMS and Go to Reservations

1.      Log in to RMS (to make a van reservation)

2.      From the top navigation menu, select Create New Reservation below the blue bar.


Step 2: Verify Your Information

The Reserver section will automatically populate your information.

Review the following fields:

·       First Name

·       Last Name

·       Department

·       Email Address

Step 3: Create a New Reservation Record

1.      Locate the reservation table.

2.      Click the + Create New Reservation link in the center of the reservation grid.

A new reservation line will be added for you to complete.

Step 4: Enter Reservation Details

1.      Course Name (use the drop-down arrow on the right)

2.      Destination (City)

3.      Pick Up Date

4.      Drop Off Date

5.      Zip Code

6.      Total Mileage (round trip)

7.      Pick Up Time

8.      Drop Off Time

Step 5: Review Details

Step 6: Submit

Your reservation will be pending confirmation.

To drive a van from the vanpool, a faculty member or student must have the following.

  1. A valid State of Michigan driver's license.
  2. Safe driving record.  GVSU Public Safety will conduct annual background checks for drivers.
  3. Be 21 years of age or older.
  4. Complete the driver registration form 
  5. Complete the van orientation in Blackboard after watching the video provided by GVSU on driving a 15-passenger van.
