The Office of Student Life celebrated outstanding student programming, organizations and support April 20 at its annual recognition awards reception.

During the event, Jo Ann Litton, senior academic advisor for CLAS Academic Advising, was surprised when it was announced that the Outstanding Advisor Award would be named in her honor. Litton has served as an advisor to several student organizations and will retire in June after 35 years of service.

Bob Stoll, associate dean for Student Life, said Litton is a professional role model who students learn from and aspire to be. She has served as the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority advisor for many years, as well as many pre-professional organizations including the Premed Club.

"Jo Ann provides just the right mix of challenge and support to students in leadership positions," Stoll said. "She cares deeply about each student and is often sought out for advice and support as students work through organizational and personal challenges."
