Bio
Jen Westerhuis completed her undergraduate and graduate education at Grand Valley State University. She has pediatric practice experience, serving children and families in community-based settings for over 10 years. She earned and maintains specialty certifications in Autism and Trauma. Jen began sharing her clinical expertise with GVSU OT students in 2018 as an adjunct instructor, transitioned fulltime to the OST department in 2022, and began her role as Assistant Professor in 2024.

Professional Interests
Jen teaches theoretical, pediatric, group intervention, and professional socialization coursework in the traditional and hybrid MSOT programs. Research interests include pediatric simulation experiences and service learning in OT education, as well as OT's role in supporting autistic individuals across the lifespan.
