Bio
Dr. DeVries is a Professor in Recreational Therapy program and leads the Disability Studies minor. With 30 years of practice experience as a clinician and manager, Dr. DeVries' career focused on older adults and in rehabilitation. She is passionate about engaging students in interactive, experiential learning utilizing various pedagogical techniques enjoys involving students in her research. Dr. DeVries is professionally active with the American Therapeutic Recreation Association.
Professional Interests
Research Interests: recreational therapy interventions with older adults, falls prevention, cognitive interventions with dementia, bibliotherapy, social engagement, advocacy
