Dr. Shari Bartz-Smith is an Associate Professor and Program Director of Athletic Training in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Grand Valley State University, a position she has held since 1999. Prior to coming to GVSU, she held the positions of Head Women’s Athletic Trainer and Assistant Head Football Athletic Trainer at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She is an active member of several professional organizations including the NATA, GLATA, and MATS.
Professional Interests
Current research interests involve mentoring Master students on research related to athletic training practices in the secondary school setting, examining worth and value of the athletic trainer in various professional practice settings, and writing rare event case studies encountered at their clinical sites.
