Prior to earning her terminal degree, Dr. Karasinski worked as a speech-language pathologist in hospitals and schools. Her past leadership positions at GVSU include Undergraduate Program Director, Graduate Program Director, and Interim Chair of the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department; Chair of the College of Health Professions Curriculum Committee and Personnel Committee; and Vice Chair of the University Academic Senate. She currently chairs the University Academic Senate.
Professional Interests
Dr. Karasinski's teaching and research center on oral and written language development, disorders, and differences in children and adolescents, including the relations between language and other cognitive processes, including working memory, attention, executive functioning, and academic achievement. She is also interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
