Harvesting Hope

Harvesting Hope

The Sustainable Agriculture Project (SAP) is the university’s educational farm, which offers interdisciplinary learning options for GVSU students and provides volunteer opportunities for the community.

Since May, the SAP has donated over 500 pounds of produce to support communities impacted by COVID-19.

"Once COVID-19 hit, we saw a drastic need in the community on a multitude of levels. There are people that are in need of food assistance that have never sought out assistance before and there are other people in administrative positions that are making some of the hardest decisions of their careers. By providing fresh produce on shelves and flowers on doorsteps, we are hoping to encourage others to take that step closer to hope.” - Margaux Sellnau, interim farm manager and educator, Sustainable Agriculture Project

“When everything may seem hopeless, the SAP’s role during COVID-19 is harvesting hope.”
