Lakers — your education just got an upgrade
The Blue Dot Ecosystem connects you to cutting-edge technology, hands-on experiences and career opportunities — no matter your major.
What Is the Blue Dot Ecosystem?
Blue Dot is GVSU's network of labs, studios, programs and industry partnerships designed to make sure you graduate ready to lead in a fast-changing. Regardless of your career path, digital fluency is part of your future. Blue Dot makes it part of your education.
WHAT'S AVAILABLE TO YOU NOW
Located on the Valley Campus (Kindschi Hall of Science), and City Campus (Seidman College of Business & Daniel and Pamella DeVos Center for Interprofessional Health), The Bridge provides supports from educational media experts in video, multimedia, lightboard, and podcasting.
Hands-on exploration of emerging technologies for teaching learning, and outreach is available in the Atomic Object Technology Showcase , located in the Mary Idema Pew Library.
The Blue Nucleus is a student-staffed software consultancy delivering real-client projects; expands equitable access to computing experiences and talent development.
A nexus of learning, discovery and collaboration that will be located on the City Campus and available to all students from every program.
HOW THE BLUE DOT ECOSYSTEM SUPPORTS LAKERS
The Blue Dot Ecosystem connects students to micro-internships and employer-sponsored opportunities that fit around your schedule and your major. These are short-term, skill-building engagements with real companies — not coffee runs.
Blue Dot puts you on actual projects while you're still in school — not hypotheticals, but real work with real stakes.
- Blue Nucleus, GVSU's student-staffed software consultancy, partners you with actual clients to deliver real solutions. You'll build a portfolio that shows employers what you can do, not just what you studied.
- Atomic Object Technology Showcase: Discover and learn to use tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing and embroidery machines, virtual reality technology and more.
Whether you're building software or building something you can hold in your hands, Blue Dot makes space for the kind of learning that sticks.
Through the Applied Computing Institute and other Blue Dot partners, undergraduates collaborate directly with faculty and industry on applied tech research. You don't have to wait until graduate school to do work that matters.
Through partnerships with West Michigan employers, you have access to networking, advisory relationships and pathways into industries that are actively looking for GVSU talent. Your degree gets you in the room. Blue Dot helps you know what to do when you're there.
Every GVSU student will graduate with the digital skills to thrive -- from learning foundational tech skills, to developing the ability to think critically about how technology shapes our lives, to mastering specific tools your career demands. These aren't add-ons. They're part of what makes your GVSU degree stand out.
