Exploring Careers in Education and Leadership (EXCEL) Camp is a 1-week introduction to the world of education. Scholars participate in activities that provide hands-on experience in the field of education. Program activities include designing a high-impact, community-based project utilizing project-based learning, developing leadership skills, exploring Grand Valley State University, and learning more about the college admissions process in preparation for their senior year.

sHaPe 2021 Campers learn about Physical Therapy

Summer Health Activities and Professions Explorations Summer Camp (sHaPe) is a four-day, day camp, offering an  introduction to the health professions. Campers participate in activities that provide hands-on exposure to a variety of health professions including physical therapy, medical lab science, sports medicine, nursing and more! Campers work with our Grand Valley State University undergraduate student counselors and faculty members to support them exploring sHaPe camp.

STEPS Camp (6th Grade)

Building a Motor Activity at STEPS Camp 2021

Grand Valley State University's "Science Technology & Engineering Preview Summer Camp" (STEPS Camp) is a four-day, day camp introduction to the world of science, technology, and engineering. The theme of airplane flight is utilized to integrate technical classes and recreational activities, all the while encouraging social development and personal growth.  The students, in teams of roughly twelve, each manufacture and assemble a radio controlled airplane with the assistance of teachers, counselors, and volunteers.  By the end of the week, the students fly their airplanes at a sanctioned fly field, with the help of certified pilots.  Throughout the week, they learn theory of flight, utilize manufacturing equipment and tools, and ultimately learn a lot more about their own personal capabilities and potential.
