Galleries

The GVSU Art Museum has two traditional galleries and three wall-mounted galleries located at our Valley and City Campuses. Each space host changing exhibitions and is a site for scheduled Programs and Events. Learn more about each location, content, and hours below.

PAC Gallery

A traditional gallery that hosts curated exhibitions of artwork drawn from the GVSU collection as well as outside loans and artists. These exhibitions start at the beginning of the fall and winter semesters, and are followed at the end of each semester with exhibitions of student artwork from the Visual and Media Arts Department. Closed during the summer months and between semesters.

Regular Open Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday 10-5pm; Thursday 10-7pm

Open during Fall and Winter Semesters except on days the University is closed (holidays, Spring Break, Student Fall Break, and between exhibitions).

Lake Ontario Wall Gallery

A wall-mounted gallery enclosed in glass panels, located in the main corridor of Lake Ontario Hall. Exhibitions focus on 2-dimensional objects, showcasing artwork by GVSU faculty, students, and the collection. The gallery hosts exhibitions of artwork from July to December and from January to June. 

Open during regular building hours.

Kirkhof Wall Gallery

A wall-mounted gallery enclosed in glass panels, located in the main lobby of the Russel H. Kirkhof Center. Exhibitions focus on 2-dimensional objects, showcasing artwork by GVSU faculty, students, and the collection. The gallery hosts exhibitions of artwork from April to September and from October to March. 

Open during regular building hours.

George and Barbara Gordon Gallery

A traditional gallery on two floors dedicated to the life and work of renowned Michigan painter Mathias J. Alten (1871-1938). The first floor gallery features exhibitions of Alten's work, drawn from the largest public collection at GVSU. The second floor gallery includes curated exhibitions that explore the intersection of Alten's work with other artists from his lifetime to present.

DeVos Wall Gallery

A wall-mounted gallery enclosed in glass panels, located in the Building B main corridor of the Richard M. DeVos Center. Exhibitions focus on 2-dimensional objects, showcasing artwork by GVSU faculty, students, and the collection. The gallery hosts exhibitions of artwork from July to December and from January to June.
