Exhibitions

The GVSU Art Gallery organizes and maintains exhibitions in six gallery spaces across the Allendale and Robert C. Pew Grand Rapids campuses. Our main gallery is in the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Haas Center for Performing Arts. The George and Barbara Gordon Gallery, in the Richard M. DeVos Center on the Pew Grand Rapids campus, features the work of local painter Mathias Alten who lived and worked in Grand Rapids in the early 20th century.
Each semester we activate all our gallery spaces with new exhibitions and offer learning events and resources that help guests engage with the work on display. For gallery locations, directions, and parking information, visit our Galleries page.

Collaborative Exhibitions

Student Exhibitions
Each semester, we work with faculty from Visual and Media Arts programs to facilitate exhibitions of student work to fulfill their graduation requirements.
Each spring in the Kirkhof Center Wall Gallery we present a selection of visual and written works of art from the student-run publication fishladder. It is typically hosted in conjunction with Student Scholars Day (SSD), an event celebrating the scholarship, research, and creative work performed by GVSU students from the past year.

Faculty Collaborations
The GVSU Art Gallery values faculty research, scholarship, and engagement. The following exhibitions exhibitions exemplify our dedication to uplift and showcase faculty work across a variety of disciplines.

Community and Institutional Collaborations
The GVSU Art Gallery often participates in university-wide and city-wide arts events and celebrations. A few notable events include ArtPrize, an independent international art competition in downtown Grand Rapids, and the GVSU Arts Celebration, a series of arts programs and events throughout the academic year open to anyone in the West Michigan community.
