Selections from 'fishladder' - A Student Journal of Art and Writing

fishladder is a student-run journal of art and writing edited and produced by undergraduates at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. The journal is published annually in April, at the tail end of the Winter Semester, and features fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art by GVSU students. As a publication, it strives to be inclusive of writers and artists from all the different parts of our campus community. It hopes to present a diverse mix of singular voices in each issue so that it might capture the voices of the GVSU student body in all its harmony and dissonance.

The journal accepts submissions throughout the GVSU Fall semester, with a deadline at the end of the term in December. Submissions are carefully considered by fishladder student staff, and final decisions are made by fishladder editors. The yearly print edition is unveiled every April, with copies available in Lake Ontario Hall and across the Allendale campus.

This exhibition presents a selection of visual and written works of art from the publication. It is hosted in conjunction with Student Scholars Day (SSD), an event celebrating the scholarship, research, and creative work performed by GVSU students from the past year.

Students currently enrolled at GVSU are encouraged to submit work in all styles, genres, and forms. For more information on how to submit fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, drama, art, or photography, please visit www.gvsu.edu/writing/fishladder
