Happy Halloween

Watch Your Booze

Keep an eye on your cup and watch how much you drink this spooky season!

One standard drink is:

  • 12 ounces of regular beer, about 5% alcohol
  • 5 ounces of wine, about 12% alcohol
  • 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor (vodka, rum, tequila, etc), about 40% alcohol
Halloween In Recovery

For people in recovery, holidays like Halloween can be scary in more ways than one. To avoid parties with substance use, try planning your own sober celebration! If you do go to a place with drinking, bring a buddy to help keep you accountable.

Cultural Appropriation

Halloween is the time of year you can be anything you want! Have fun with your costume, but remember to be conscious and respectful of other people's cultures with your choices. Cultural appropriation can include altering skin tone, leaning into a stereotype, and reducing traditional clothing, customs, and practices to an aesthetic without respect to their importance. To avoid harming others with your costume, do not alter your skin tone, examine your motives, question the humor in your choice, and refrain from packaging with words like, "traditional," "ethnic," "colonial," "cultural," "authentic," or "tribal."

Who Ya Gonna Call?

Remember to make a plan before you leave on all hallows' eve. Ask yourself: how will I get home tonight? Do I have a designated driver? Will I take the bus? Will I call an Uber? Being prepared is the key to a fun spooky season!

Don't Be Tricked, It's Not Candy

While they might look like candy, THC gummies are far from your typical Halloween treat. Make sure you know the strength of the gummy and never take more than 2.5 mg of THC - wait for it to affect you before you eat another. Don't be haunted by unexpected cannabis effects!

Pumpkin Pie Mocktail

What happens when Halloween falls on a Mocktail Monday? Pumpkin pie deliciousness! Celebrate Halloween by making this deliciously spooky mocktail, and serve it at your gatherings to ensure your friends can choose to drink what feels right for them.
