Athletics AOD Education Sign-Up

The AOD Services office collaborates with GVSU Athletics to ensure each Varsity team receives education around alcohol and other drugs. This collaboration is to support student-athletes in making the necessary choices around substances that align with their best interests. The AOD Services office will provide an hour-long presentation that will allow for review of fundamental AOD information and provide time to explore questions regarding team culture and peer accountability. Requests for this presentation should be made no less than 2 weeks prior to the date(s) of the proposed time.

It is the responsibility of the requesting party to secure an appropriate location for the education program. The location should take into account noise levels and space needs and should be equipped with necessary technology (generally a screen, projector, and laptop, though technology needs may vary by presenter/topic). Any cost associated with the program (technology, location, etc.) is the responsibility of the requesting party.

Please ensure that all team members are aware of the event and will be attending. It is furthermore the responsibility of the requesting party to introduce the speaker to the team and provide support as needed. Prior to the event, team members should be prepared to provide the presenter with their attention and engagement for the duration of the program. Room setup will need to occur at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time and at least 10 minutes after the program end for evaluation and questions.

The items above are general guidelines of the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services office. If you would like an exception to be considered, please contact the AOD Services Office at (616) 331-3527 or [email protected].
