Prepharmacy Studies at Grand Valley State University is an academic track that equips students with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to succeed in pharmacy school and build successful careers in pharmacy.
Pharmacy schools accept students with various majors; prepharmacy students at GVSU commonly choose biomedical sciences, biology, biochemistry, or behavioral neuroscience. Students are assigned an advisor to help prepare them for professional school and complete the prerequisite coursework needed for admission to a PharmD program.
This program provides a robust curriculum with courses in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, biology, calculus, communications, economics, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics. These courses ensure that you will gain the essential knowledge and skills needed for success in pharmacy school and beyond.
The university provides access to state-of-the-art laboratories, including a cadaver lab, which offers unique hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, the preprofessional advising team will support you through various workshops, events, and one-on-one advising sessions, ensuring you are well-prepared for the pharmacy school application process. With strong partnerships with institutions like the University of Michigan and Ferris State University, students benefit from early admission programs and mentoring opportunities, making Grand Valley an excellent choice for aspiring pharmacists.
Students are admitted directly into this program.
