Middle East studies encompass the history, culture, politics, languages, and societies of the Middle East.
Through experiential learning and field trips, students engage in cultural experiences throughout Michigan, the nation's largest Arab American community. This program includes religion, economics, social issues, international relations, and the historical context of the region's development.
You will immerse yourself in the Arabic language and culture, gaining a deep understanding of the region's history and politics. Explore Middle Eastern literature and film, delve into the rich traditions of Islamic art, and engage with the philosophical ideas that have shaped the Middle East.
The program is a gateway to gaining essential communication and intercultural skills in a global economy. It capitalizes on the growing interest in the non-Western world, preparing you for an increasingly diverse world. You will have the opportunity to participate in annual Model Arab League simulations and attend field trips to cultural points of interest locally and in the Detroit area, and explore study abroad opportunities.
