The history of science minor examines the emergence and development of the scientific enterprise and how science and technology shape our lives.
The minor provides valuable perspectives for those majoring in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. Careful training in research, writing, critical reading, and interpretation makes history of science minors attractive to a great number of employers who value those abilities.
You will delve into the transformative periods of the Scientific and Technological Revolutions, gaining a deep understanding of their impacts on society. Additionally, you will select from a diverse array of electives spanning various disciplines, such as the history of medicine, earth history, philosophy, and statistics.
Dedicated faculty members are committed to teaching, scholarship, and mentoring, providing a supportive learning environment. Graduates of the GVSU history program are accepted into top law schools and graduate programs in history, museum studies, and library science. You can choose from research and internship opportunities for a well-rounded education that includes hands-on experience. You also have the chance to network and engage with the community through public history projects and the Veterans History Project.
