Combined

Allendale • Grand Rapids • Face to face • Hybrid • Variable Credits

The student-initiated combined degree program offers current qualified GVSU students the opportunity to combine undergraduate and graduate degree programs that meet their unique personal, academic, and career goals. Working with faculty advisors and graduate program directors, students can combine degrees from different disciplines and tailor their own student-centered and goal-driven educational experience.

Overview

Grand Valley offers a Student-Initiated Combined Degree program, allowing qualified students to combine undergraduate and graduate degree programs tailored to their unique personal, academic, and career goals. This program is designed to reduce the overall cost and time required to complete both degrees. Students work closely with faculty advisors and graduate program directors to create a customized educational experience that meets their specific needs

The curriculum for each student-initiated combined degree program is unique, as it is developed based on the chosen undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students can count up to 12 graduate credit hours toward both their undergraduate and graduate degree requirements. The plan of study is collaboratively designed by the student, faculty advisors, and graduate program directors to ensure all degree requirements are met

The advantage of this program is its flexibility and customization. Students can accelerate their career trajectory by completing their degrees more efficiently and responding to emerging job markets. The program also provides valuable internship and career opportunities through partnerships in the West Michigan area, helping students gain practical experience and meet the growing national need for master's trained employees.
