The School of Accounting’s Advanced Tax Practice Graduate Badge at GVSU is designed to equip students with the skills necessary for advanced-level tax research and planning across a variety of situations.
The advanced tax practice badge is useful in preparing students for tasks such as researching and providing tax law conclusions for issues related to employee benefit plans and executive compensation under the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA, understanding fundamental concepts of tax accounting periods, and navigating consolidated income tax returns. Additionally, the badge prepares students for federal tax practice and procedure, ensuring they are well-versed in the legal and procedural aspects of taxation.
To earn this badge, students must take three courses, each worth three credits. This badge provides practical skills and advanced technical knowledge to prepare students for higher-level tax roles in corporate, public accounting, or consulting environments.
