Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

"To truly understand gender and women’s roles, studying in another country and culture is essential. Only then will you develop the analytical tools to know your own culture and be able to advocate for change."

- Professor Danielle DeMuth, Women & Gender Studies Program

Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Study Abroad Programs

WGS Major Minor

India

There are countless opportunities for an incredible study abroad experience within the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies curriculum.  You will be able to gain a unique perspective on gender differences among cultures and bring that knowledge back to share with the rest of your classmates and professors here at GVSU.  There are several program options including “International Perspectives on Sexuality and Gender” in the Netherlands, where the units of study include queer, LGBT, and feminist movements; migration, gender, and sexuality; sex education; same-sex marriage rights; sex work; and transgender issues.  This program also travels to Morocco in order to deepen the perspective on these themes.  This is just one of the many options you have as a Women and Gender Studies major/minor to leave the comfort of your home country and embark on an educational journey that will enlighten you in a way you never dreamed was possible.
