Religious Studies Abroad

At the core of your study abroad experience, you will gain critical insight into the issues of that countries religion and will be better able to bring that knowledge into your interdisciplinary degree. Studying abroad will foster the capacity to make connections between fields of knowledge, between differing cultures and traditions, and between theory and real-world practice. Step out into the world, rev up your resume, and earn academic credit by studying abroad in locations such as China, Chile, India, Spain, Poland, and many more.

Academic Advice

Religious studies students can reap huge benefits through studying abroad by gaining a better understanding of the different belief systems around the world. Understanding religion as it spans various disciplines as well as various cultures prepares students to think critically and creatively connect differing perspectives which is an essential foundation for intercultural civic engagement. Being in a different atmosphere will render the full perspective to understanding exactly what other religions offer.

Students interested in combining their study abroad experience with an internship, or those looking to focus solely on an internship, have many options. Customized internships are available in a few locations through GVSU internships, as well as other programs such as ELAP or World Endeavors
