Music

Imagine visiting the hometown of a favorite composer and experiencing first-hand the artwork, environment and architecture that inspired their music, all the while shedding light on how to genuinely express that composer’s ideals in a captivating performance. Imagine listening to the musical stylings of instruments not found in the Western world and witnessing how important music truly is in every society.

Studying abroad is a very useful and beneficial academic experience for students majoring in music. Music students will have the chance to enhance their skills and gain cross-cultural experience that is advantageous to many different avenues of professional musicianship. In an increasingly global music market, spending time learning and performing abroad allows you to make connections with people all over the world and gain important networking and self-promotional skills. This experience will also strengthen personal performance skills through playing in diverse and unfamiliar environments. Studying abroad can also allow you to gain resume-building experience through coursework in fields such as music technology or music business, supplemented by professional practice in a city such as Sydney or London with a thriving music production culture.
