Get Involved. Become More.
Get Involved with Student Life
Getting involved at Grand Valley is just as important as getting to class on time, using your dining dollars, or wearing pants to class (we’ve all had that nightmare). It’s time to take your first step into a world of new experiences, fulfilling community service, lifelong friendships, and fun homework-less activities.
Pro tip: follow @GVSUStudentLife on social media to stay up to date on campus events and involvement opportunities!
Student Organizations
Joining a Registered Student Organization (RSO) is a crucial part of finding your community on campus. Pursue your passions, try something new, and find your people!
Step 1: Join us at Campus Life Night to meet student orgs in person and learn more about getting involved.
Step 2: Visit LakerLink to learn more about all 400+ GVSU student organizations. For many organizations, all you need to do to join is show up to a meeting. For some organizations, there might be auditions, tryouts, or an otherwise selective joining process. All of that information is on LakerLink, as well as contact info and social media handles for each org.
Campus Activities Board (CAB) Events
Attending campus events is a great way to meet new people, try new things, and experience GVSU to the fullest. The Campus Activities Board (CAB) is a student group that helps plan major community-focused campus including Silent Disco, Presidents' Ball, Spring Concert, and many more. If you have an idea for a cool campus event, reach out to CAB!
Follow @GVSUCAB on Instagram to make sure you never miss out on a CAB event!
Fraternity & Sorority Life
Fraternities and sororities provide a sense of community, belonging, support, leadership development opportunities, philanthropic opportunities, and more. At Grand Valley, we have 25+ sororities and fraternities within our four different councils.
Each council has a unique recruitment process, so you'll want to review the Greek Life website for more information and follow @GVSUGreekLife on Instagram for updates.
Civic Engagement
Civic Engagement programs serve as opportunities for you to give back to the community. Student Life is home to many different on-campus and off-campus community service opportunities as well as a variety of voting resources, empowering students to become active, global citizens who are committed to a life of community engagement and democratic participation.
Leadership Education and Development (LEAD)
Our leadership programs are centered around the philosophy that leadership is a journey of growth, self-discovery, and positive impact. Our leadership events and workshops are designed to empower students to lead with integrity, purpose, and a commitment to making a difference in their communities and beyond.
