The Statistics Department offers a major in Statistics (with a potential emphasis in Actuarial Science) as well as three undergraduate minors: Applied Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, and a joint undergrad degree with computing in Data Science and Analytics. In addition, our department offers a Professional Science Master’s degree in Biostatistics, M.S. in Applied Statistics, and M.S. in Data Science and Analytics. We are a unit of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

2026 Alumni-in-Residence: October 1st through October 2nd, 2026!
We are pleased to welcome Jessi Parker and Jeff Trost back to campus as part of this year's CLAS Distinguished Alumni-in-Residence program.
Jessi graduated from GVSU with a B.S. in Statistics in 2011 and an M.S. in Biostatistics in 2013. She is now the Director of Biostatistics & Health Informatics at Corewell Health.
Jeff graduated from GVSU with a B.S. in Statistics in 2022 and an M.S. in Applied Statistics in 2024. He is now an Associate IT Analyst at Dow, working in CCS – CSOC Engineering.

2027 Poster Competition and 2027 DataFEST
Consider registering as a participant in DataFEST, or serving as a judge/consultant in any of the 2 events.
Poster Competition 2027: Posters must be submitted (or at least postmarked) by March 27, 2027. Winners will be notified by May 7, 2027.
DataFEST 2027: The weekend of TBD; the event starts 5 pm, Friday and will conclude by 5 pm, Sunday.
