Virtual Career Fair for Statisticians

NISS will host the Virtual Career Fair for Statisticians in the High-Tech Industries on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 12 - 1:30 pm ET. This virtual career fair event is the eleventh in a series of Virtual Career Fairs that NISS has been hosting. (Check out earlier virtual career fair sessions!) Some of these sessions have focused on academic positions, others on positions in government agencies and industry.  

This session describes opportunities for statisticians/data scientists from three leading companies in the high-tech industries. Senior statisticians from Facebook, Netflix, and Google will provide attendees with an inside look at the research that statisticians or data scientists in these companies get involved in and career opportunities for you to consider!

Each presenter will have 15 minutes to address the following general topics:

  1. What are the job opportunities for statisticians/data scientists/analysts in your company?
  2. Describe the range of skills statisticians/data scientists/analysts need to succeed in your company?
  3. What is the career path for statisticians/data scientists/analysts in your company?
  4. Is your firm currently hiring statisticians/data scientists/analysts?
  5. What advice would you give to students based on your experience?

 

Internship Opportunities for Graduate Students

National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS) Academic Affiliates Committee and Graduate Student Network is holding a virtual meet-up on Friday, November 12, 2021, 12 - 2 pm ET on "Internship Opportunities for Graduate Students".

In this event, we will have panelists from Fidelity, Google, Merck, Proctor and Gamble, and Research Triangle International - RTI. They will share information about internship opportunities from their industries and also discuss the job description/qualifications/requirements for these types of positions.
