What were your responsibilities at your internship?
I was in charge of running three programs at 12-15 Grand Rapids schools, creating practice plans and running events held at the SOMI center.
Favorite part of the internship?
Connecting with the athletes.
Any special skill you had to use or learn?
The ability to manage a lot of different things at once. I was able to alter programs to better fit the needs of each group I worked with.
Advice for students looking for internships?
Go to the job/internship fairs any time they are available during the year. Also connect with your professors and see if they know of any around!
Advice for students currently in an internship?
No matter what your role is, make the most out of it. At the end of the day people will notice your drive/passion and will be willing to become references for you later on. Always keep the door open!
