Experience Grand Rapids' history, people, and promise
Semester in Grand Rapids (SIGR) is an exciting opportunity to deeply engage with the community of Grand Rapids. In this immersive program, students take classes about the city, intern at a community-based organization, and have the option to live downtown. Earn 9 undergraduate credits including an internship, SWS, U.S. Diversity, and two Issues courses. SIGR is open to students of all majors, and is best suited to juniors and seniors.
“By being apart of SIGR this summer I felt like I was able to make the most of my summer and transition into the school year with a full semester of professional development.”Sarah Stromski
Students who spent a semester engaging with city leaders and working at internships with community organizations shared their experiences at a showcase August 6.
