Grand Valley Shakespeare Festival A Midsummer Night's Dream

The Grand Valley Shakespeare Festival returns with the classic romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream. As in the past, we are providing three student matinee performances exclusively for area secondary schools and home school groups. The performances are:

  • Tuesday, October 6th, at 10:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, October 7th, at 10:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, October 8th, at 10:00 a.m.

The performance will last roughly 2 1/2 hours. As was the case in 2024, tickets do not include lunch. But, we do have space provided for schools who wish to bring student lunches with them. Schools that wish to remain for lunch are welcome to bring lunches with you from your schools. Schools can give us packed up lunches upon arrival, and we will take them to the lunch area for after the performance. Our cast and crew will still join students in the lunch area in our Kirkhof Center building and be able to interact with your students, as in years past. We do not have refrigeration in the lunch area, but schools can bring lunches in coolers if needed. We hope to provide iced water and a small treat for students to go with their lunch. We will also have a Grand Valley State University Admissions Representative with information about Grand Valley at the lunch area. Any students who are interested in what Grand Valley offers may wish to speak with the Admissions Officer. Additionally, tours of the campus for schools can be arranged.

Cost for attending will now be $3.00 per person. We apologize for raising the price from $2.50. This is the first raise in ticket price in more than 10 years, but production costs in all areas continue to rise for us. If this is a hardship for any school, please email me, and we will try to work with you.  Please email any questions to me, Jim Bell, the Festival Managing Director at [email protected]. That is the easiest way to reach me.

Completing this form will reserve seats for your school. Please estimate the number you expect as close as you are able to do so. It is usually easier to cancel a few seats than add a few seats.

We have matinee performances on:

  • Tuesday, October 8th, at 10:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, October 9th, at 10:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, October 10th, at 10:00 a.m.

Performances begin promptly at 10:00 a.m., and we will begin seating schools at 9:30 a.m. We ask that schools arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. Seats are general admission, and we will seat schools according to space needs and arrival time. That said, you can see and hear from anywhere in the auditorium.

We will do our best to accommodate your first choice and will communicate with you if your first choice is not available according to the available space.

We have two options this year for schools to pay for the matinee tickets. Schools can pay online using a credit card or schools can be invoiced for the tickets and pay by check. Please select which option you prefer. Schools that select to pay online will be emailed a link to do so along with a confirmation of their reservation. Schools are asked to pay for the tickets by two days prior to the performance. If tickets are unused (a student is ill the day of the performance, for instance) unused tickets will be refunded. Schools that select to be invoiced will also receive an email confirming their reservation and will then receive an invoice from our box office after the performance and will be asked to process the invoice right away. In both cases, schools will ultimately be charged for the number of seats used.

I understand that submitting a registration request does not guarantee the number of requested seats for the required date. I also understand that the school I represent will be responsible for paying $3.00 per seat for the student matinees.
