I graduated in 1998 with a BS in Political Science, Minor in English.  I also have an MA in Middle East Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School (2008) and an MA in Geography from the University of Oregon (2013).

Currently, I am an instructor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering at the United States Military Academy where I teach Environmental Geography and Geography of the Middle East.

I have been on active duty (Army) for 14 years and started my military career as an Arabic Linguist and then as a military intelligence officer.

My studies at GVSU prepared me for my current position in academia and laid a good foundation for my specialties in regional and political geography.  More importantly, the accessibility to the department and professors post-graduation was very beneficial as I applied to graduate school.  Dr. King kindly took the time to write letters of recommendation even though I had graduated almost a decade prior.
