Erased Histories: Violence Against Mexican Americans

Libre Baskerville flyer

Date and Time

Monday, April 13, 2026 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Location

Lake Ontario Hall, Room 164

Description

This event explores the history of racialized violence against Mexican and Mexican American communities. Through a screening of Porvenir, Texas, and a guided discussion, we will examine La Matanza (1915–1918) and the 1954 deportation campaign known as Operation Wetback. Together, we will reflect on how state power, border enforcement, and historical memory continue to shape our understanding of justice and identity.

Co-sponsored by the History Department and the Political Science Department.
