Occupational Safety & Health Management Program Conducts Fire Extinguisher Training

Published May 28, 2020

Occupational Safety & Health Management students completed a fire extinguisher training course provided by Cofessco Fire Protection. The course covered different types of fires, various kinds of extinguishers, and the proper application of extinguishers to effectively put a fire out.

All twenty of the OSH students in the course had an opportunity to extinguish a fire with using the LION/BullEx fire extinguisher simulator. This simulator allows for year-round training inside without concern of weather and does not omit any agent from fire extinguishers. The BullEx has a simulated fire on a large screen along with a fire extinguisher designed for the system with a laser to direct the agent at the simulated fire. The BullEx does a great job in simulating an actual fire and the reignition that occurs too often when a fire presents itself. Students competed with one another to see who could extinguish the fire the quickest.
