- April 2026, Padnos College of Engineering student Annika Mattson received a prestigious Glenn A. Niemeyer Award at the 2026 Student Awards Convocation. The Glenn A. Niemeyer Award recognizes well-rounded individuals with demonstrated excellence in both the classroom and extra-curricular activities that serve to enrich their lives and the lives of others.
- April 2026, Sanjivan Manoharan, associate professor of mechanical engineering, was one of three faculty members in the state named a 2026 Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year by the Michigan Association of State Universities.
- Winter 2026, PCE Project Specialist Sara Maas honored for Best Presenter, Cooperative and Experiential Education Division at the American Society for Engineering Education CIEC conference for her presentation which was titled "From Classroom to Campus: Enhancing Education through K-12 Outreach."
- September 2025, Grand Valley will help meet a critical workforce need after receiving a five-year, $1.98 million grant from the National Science Foundation to remove financial barriers and create academic support systems for students to earn engineering degrees.
- Summer 2024, Engineering student team takes third place overall, second place in the video category, and third place in the performance category at this year's Cast In Steel Halligan Bar Competition.
- Spring 2024, Engineering student team is only team in United States to successfully complete the NASA Micro-g NExT challenge. Team also awarded the Outreach Award.
- Occupational Safety & Health program recognized as one of the Top 10 Best Value Online Occupational Safety and Heath Bachelor's in 2020 and 2021 by Value Colleges
- Engineering students placed as the 1st runner up in the North American SME Digital Manufacturing Challenge 2020
- Bronze Level Award for the 2019 Diversity Recognition Program (American Society for Engineering Education)
- School of Engineering featured for best practices in student retention and success (American Society for Engineering Education)
- School of Engineering named as an “Exemplar of Real World Engineering Education (National Academy of Engineering)

- Occupational Safety & Health program has been a Qualified Academic Program by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals since 2017
- SME announced Grand Valley State University as one of its inaugural institutional members, January 2017
- GVSU PCE Students selected to test device they built for NASA at the Johnson Space Center
- Engineering students took 1st place in two innovation competitions in 2014
