2026 Drumline Audition Update
- Video Auditions for Snare, Tenors and Bass Drum are being accepted until Wednesday July 8
- We are actively seeking individuals for our Cymbal Line. These is no audition, but there is an interview with the Director.

2027 Auditions - May 15 & May 16, 2027
Auditions for the Fall 2027 Drumline will take place:
Saturday, May 15: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday, May 16: 1 p.m - 5 p.m.
Haas Center for Performing Arts, Room 1515 (Band Room)
All auditionees must attend both days.
- Submission deadline for the audition registration form: Friday, May 14, 2027 11:59 p.m.
- You must attend the entire time.
- If any person auditioning for the Laker Marching Band is under the age of 18 on the day of the audition (May 15, 2027), they are required to have a parent/guardian with them on campus during the listed audition time.
- Those under the age of 18 who are unable to have a parent/guardian present during the listed audition time can submit a video audition. Please email [email protected] for more information about the video audition option.
- All accepted members must register for MUS 107 (marching band). This is a one (1) credit class.
- Those accepted must attend the summer drumline day camp on Saturday, July 10, 2027 from 9 a.m. - 6p.m.

Audition Process
- Submit the Drumline Audition Registration form before the Saturday audition date.
- Choose both a primary and secondary drumline instrument audition packet to prepare. Instructions and specific packets are listed below.
- It is highly encouraged that you are proficient on a secondary drumline instrument (snare, tenors, bass, or cymbal).
- Mastery of technique, understanding of all musical elements and instruction information in the audition packet are keys to a successful audition.
GVSU Band Directors and Drumline Instructional staff reserves the right to ask any accepted member or LMB returner to move to a secondary drumline instrument based on the talent level, availability of instruments, and appropriate instrumentation of the drumline. Full Time Students attending area Colleges or Universities are Welcome to audition!
Non-GVSU students who are attending at area colleges/universities full-time can audition for the Laker Marching Band but will have to complete the Guest Application to GVSU and be admitted by GVSU. Guest Students who are Returners in the Laker Marching Band have to complete the Guest Application to GVSU but do not have to re-audition. The course number for the GVSU Marching Band is MUS 107 Section 01.
MUS 107 is a one (1) credit course, and the cost can be found on the Tuition and Fees page of the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
