Equipment Checkout | Digital Creator Lab

The Digital Creator Lab offers equipment checkout at the IT Service Desk at the Mary Idema Pew Library for all GVSU students regardless of major. Equipment checkout is first come, first served (reservations are not available).

Below are the items available for checkout. Next to each item, there are suggestions of additional equipment, either personal equipment or checked out from the DCL, to use for quality production. SD cards (memory cards for storing digital photos, videos, and audio files) and readers will be supplied for items needing storage.

Located in the atrium of the Mary Idema Pew Library.

Canon Rebel SL3 Camera + Shotgun Microphone

A digital SLR camera, which includes 4k video and time-lapse movie. The attached shotgun microphone is used for recording audio from a distance while using the camera. SD cards and readers included upon checkout.

Tripod

A three-legged stand used to support a camera, phone clamp / clip, and other devices.

A device used to hold a smartphone in place. It is often used with a tripod.

A lighting tool that is often used in photography and videography because it provides a consistent, even light.

A device that helps to reduce plosives (hard "b" and "p" sounds) when recording audio.

Lighting Kit

A set of professional lights and stands that heightens video and photography production by providing adequate and consistent lighting.

A device that allows users to draw by hand on the tablet using a digital pen, which captures an image / graphic in digital form.

*This item is not a stand-alone device and requires a PC, as well as the latest Wacom Driver. You can use your personal laptop or one of the PCs in the Digital Creator Lab.

The Digital Creator Lab aims to provide students with the hardware / software to complete their academic and personal projects. Please complete the Equipment Purchase Request Form if the Digital Creator Lab does not currently offer hardware / software that you are looking for. The DCL will review equipment requests and make updates to include requested hardware / software, if appropriate. Faculty and staff are also welcome to submit requests for equipment purchase by the DCL.
