New Student Orientation & Registration Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the LAAN New Student Orientation and Registration (NSOR) Subcommittee is to act as a representative body for the LAAN committee on issues regarding New Student Advising and Registration. The NSOR Subcommittee is charged with implementing the changes recommended in the Executive Summary created by the previous transfer advising and registration task force back in March 2019. 

About the New Student Advising Subcommittee

  1. Composition
    • The NSOR Subcommittee is composed of Academic Advisors who will serve two-year terms: it is preferred that only one person from an advising Center serves at any one time. A chair will be elected by the Subcommittee and will report to the LAAN Executive Committee as requested.

    • A chair will be elected by the NSOR Subcommittee every year and will report to the LAAN Executive Committee as requested. 
  4. Responsibilities
    • The NSOR Subcommittee will report to the LAAN Executive Committee and have the following responsibilities:                                 
      • To use best practices in academic advising to align with and center the needs of students regarding their orientation and registration experience.
      • To support the university advising staff regarding student orientation and registration responsibilities by way of projects and/or communication.
      • To collaborate and coordinate with Admissions staff and other stakeholders in the design/implementation of orientation and registration processes regularly.
      • To innovate ways to simplify, streamline, and/or standardize processes as related to student orientation and registration.
