Application Preparation - Personal Statement

BSN Application: Personal Statement

The Personal Statement makes up 25% of the overall admission decision for both the Traditional and Second-Degree BSN programs and is reviewed independently from the rest of the application. Readers do not have access to other materials when evaluating the statement, which allows students' personal reflections and values to stand on their own.

The Personal Statement is an essay (up to 650 words) that students download, complete, and submit as a PDF during the application window. This is the applicant's chance to share their story in depth — reflecting on inclusion, engagement, and life experiences that have shaped their desire to become a nurse. More than a writing exercise, it highlights the motivations, insights, and curiosity that set each applicant apart.
