Overview

To catalyze campus-based and classroom-based pedagogical innovation at GVSU, the IT Innovation + Research team is pioneering new ways of engaging faculty, staff, and students in the exploration, design, development, and experimentation of innovative ideas. We've explored the landscape of a variety of emerging technology solutions for teaching and learning and want to share our expertise.

In this Innovation Call for Proposals, we are soliciting ideas from GVSU faculty and staff to submit projects and serve as subject matter experts to experiment and drive innovation.

Whether you're looking to visualize abstract concepts, go on virtual field trips, train students through simulation, increase inclusion and accessibility, or spark engagement and creativity - finding the right tool for the job matters and we’re here to help you do it!

Not sure where to start? Please contact the IT Innovation + Research team ([email protected]) for a pre-consultation meeting.

What Project Ideas Can I Submit?

The IT Innovation + Research team gathered project ideas to design, develop, and launch extended reality experiences for the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 semesters. Extended reality (XR) offers promising new opportunities for teaching and learning in the areas of immersive learning such as augmented, mixed, virtual reality. By allowing teachers and students to create authentic simulations, immersive three-dimensional models, and empathetic role-playing exercises, XR offers the potential to engage learners in novel and meaningful ways.

While our initial year was focused on XR, we are now interested in projects and ideas submitted around a variety of technology spaces including: artificial intelligence, 360 video, extended reality technology, spatial computing, or other emerging technology.

Please reach out and connect with us, we would love to hear your thoughts to level up learning and our digital campus experience!

What Support Will I Receive?

Each proposal will require a faculty or staff member to lead and serve as a subject matter expert to ensure that educational content and project is accurate and useful. Accepted proposals will receive support for XR development, 360 filming, instructional design, and project management.

Deadline

Proposals will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Connect with us and let's innovate together to move your idea forward!
