Highlighted Projects Driving Impact

Workday

A modern, cloud-based Student Information System designed to replace the current functions in Banner. This unified platform will streamline student data management, offer real-time reporting, and integrate seamlessly with Workday for HR, Finance, and Payroll. GVSU plans to transition to Workday Student by Fall 2027, with key capabilities launching during the 2026–27 academic year.

The Workday website serves as the central hub for project information, updates, and resources throughout the project.

Account Lifecycle

Modernizing how GVSU manages digital identities and access across the institution. This initiative establishes a unified approach to identity governance that improves security, streamlines onboarding and offboarding, and enhances compliance. By implementing a scalable platform and adopting a phased delivery model, the university is building a sustainable foundation to manage access consistently, reduce risk, and support future growth across systems, applications, and the broader campus technology ecosystem.

Digital ID & Access Control Program

Advancing GVSU’s digital transformation, this university-wide initiative transitions from physical IDs to secure mobile credentials to enhance safety and user experience. As the first effort within a broader program, it defines the strategic roadmap for expanding digital identity and access capabilities. Current work focuses on early data gathering and planning to guide future phases and scalable campus-wide adoption.

Omni Prior Learning & Micro Course Grant

Expanding access and accelerating degree completion, this initiative recognizes prior learning and advances competency-based education for adult learners. Through AI-supported micro-credentials and regional partnerships, it strengthens workforce alignment and academic flexibility. The effort establishes a scalable model to support lifelong learning and broaden pathways for nontraditional students and community partners.

Wireless Sharing Pilot for Active Learning Classroom

Enhancing interactive teaching and learning, this pilot introduces a modern classroom environment in Seidman Business College room SCB 2001 using Vivi technology. It enables dynamic content sharing across multiple displays and supports real-time student collaboration. The initiative advances flexible, technology-enhanced instruction and strengthens engagement, establishing a model for future classroom design and supporting GVSU’s commitment to innovative, student-centered learning spaces.

Zoom Room Integration for Enhanced Collaboration

Expanding and enhancing collaboration across GVSU, this initiative modernizes technology-enabled meeting and learning spaces to support high-quality hybrid experiences. Building on recent upgrades, it focuses on seamless connectivity and improved audio-visual performance. This ongoing work strengthens communication, supports remote participation, and advances flexible work and learning environments, creating a scalable foundation for future space enhancements across campus.
