A medicine wheel - a circle divided into four with black to the west, white to the north, yellow to the east, and red to the south.

Join the Kaufman Interfaith Institute and GVSU's Religious Studies Department as we visit different sacred sites around the greater Grand Rapids area over the course of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Our September visit is to the Native American Burial Mounds in partnership with Chairman Ron Yob of the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians on Thursday, September 24 from 6-7:30pm.

** PLEASE NOTE: This visit is entirely outdoors and requires hiking through uncleared paths in the woods. This means brush, uneven terrain, and possible wet conditions. As such, it is likely a visit that is inaccessible for anyone with limited mobility, and we apologize for that. Long pants and hiking shoes are highly recommended.**
