Interfaith Book Group: The Road to Wisdom (4 meetings)
Join us for an Interfaith Book Group exploring The Road to Wisdom: On Truth, Science, Faith and Trust by Dr. Francis Collins. We are excited to offer this month-long opportunity before Dr. Collins comes to GVSU!
In his book, Dr. Collins reminds us of the four core sources of judgment and clear thinking: truth, science, faith, and trust. Drawing on his work at the Human Genome Project and as head of the National Institutes of Health, as well as on ethics, philosophy, and Christian theology, Collins makes a robust, thoughtful case for each of the core sources -- their reliability and their limits. It is a deeply thoughtful guidebook to get us beyond societal divisions and back to the sources of wisdom.
This book discussion is for anyone who is interested in joining this community discussion. Our facilitator for this group will be Karen Meyers. All are welcome!
The reading and discussion of the book will be divided over the 4 sessions. We will meet on Zoom every Wednesday evening in October from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm (EDT / EST) starting on Wednesday, October 7.
Please obtain the book and read through the first chapter for the first meeting.
A link will be sent to you in advance of our gatherings.
