Intramural Sports Supervisor

The Intramural Sports Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, fair, and professional operation of intramural sports programs. This position oversees event operations, supervises student staff, and serves as a primary point of contact for participants during scheduled programs. Intramural Sports Supervisors uphold departmental policies, provide leadership and support to officials, and contribute to a positive and inclusive recreational environment for all participants. 

Supervisors play a key role in staff development, risk management, and customer service while maintaining high standards of professionalism and program delivery. 

Details

Start Date: August 2026. Required training during the week of August 24-28, 2026 *this is subject to change. 

Duration: This position will work from August 2026 - May 2027. Must be available to work evenings between 5:00pm - midnight. Monday-Friday, and Sundays. Potential other days may be added as events change.

Hours: Part time, flexible hours up to 5-15 hours per week. Hours vary weekly based on sports and league offerings. 

Location: GVSU Allendale Campus

Responsibilities

  • Follow and enforce all department policies and rules. 
  • Attend all staff trainings, meetings & in-services
  • Supervise intramural sports events and manage 5-10 staff per shift.
  • Manage facilities for intramural sports events.
  • Provide customer service to all participants
  • Provide feedback to officials nightly.
  • Assist with the training of sports officials. 
  • Act as the first responder for injuries and facility issues that may arise during events, within the level of training.  
  • Complete necessary forms and documentation correctly and without errors 
  • Provide feedback on program operations and processes.
  • Maintain the professional standard for delivery of all programs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be an enrolled student during Fall 2026 & Winter 2027
  • CPR / First Aid Certified (provided if hired).
  • Experience officiating or playing sports required. 
  • Ability to work well with others, as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Attend trainings required to preform the job duties
