Introduction to Tai Chi Workshop

Introduction to Tai Chi Workshop

Date and Time

Wednesday, May 13, 2015 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Description

Tai Chi is a powerful healing art, a moving meditation and a non-contact martial art all in one. Introduce your body to the ancient benefits of Tai Chi theory and practice in this beginners workshop where you will begin to learn the full form of Tai Chi moments, proper form and specific breathing techniques. Calm your mind, enliven your spirit and strengthen and relax your entire body. Unify the mind, body and spirit through the practice of Tai Chi. Presented by trained Tai Chi instructor and GVSU Movement Science graduate Chalene Jones.

Grand Valley Alumni Chalene Jones received her certification to teach this specific Sung style Tai Chi in March 2015 through the Tai Chi for Health Institute under the instruction of Master Trainer Daniel Jones. Although new to teaching Tai Chi, she has over 2 years experience developing and teaching fitness programs for her personal training clients. Gaining more and more interest in healing and meditative arts specifically, she began expanding her knowledge by receiving training and certification in Advanced Reiki. After a collar bone break and nagging rotator cuff issues, she took up Tai Chi to help strengthen and heal, and is beginning her journey toward helping people do the same.

Another date is also available on the Allendale Campus: June 10, 12-1pm in KC 2215-2216
