Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy 2020-2021 Competencies
This year, the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy will focus on the following 6 competencies. These competencies are adapted from Dr. Corey Seemiller's research. Self Understanding
Enhancing an understanding of one's personality, beliefs, strengths and weaknesses, and interests.
Productive Relationships
Cultivating meaningful connections with others that contribute positively to the well-being of those involved.
Social Justice
Working toward a more equitable distribution of social power.
Conflict Negotiation
Keeping tensions and emotions to a minimum, focusing solely on the issue, balancing the needs of all involved, and finding common ground to manage disagreement.
Vision
Developing a statement that defines the aspiration and direction of an individual or organization to guide actions and decisions.
Responding to Ambiguity
Responding to an unpredictable situation by adapting one's plans and moving forward without all the information.
