Muskegon Lake recovery highlighted in documentary by alumnus

For years, Muskegon Lake in Muskegon County was severely polluted by the various factories and industrial plants that lined its shores.  While the lake is still considered an Area of Concern by the Environmental Protection Agency, conditions have improved greatly thanks to efforts of community organizations and funding from a wide variety of sources.  That recovery is highlighted by a short film produced and directed by Grand Valley alumnus David Ruck that was shown at a community event at the Frauenthal Theater in Muskeg

Grand Valley student organization connects young students to animation profession through community project

Grand Valley students and faculty members are spreading the wonders of animation to local middle school students while solving the needs of local community partners. Members of Animator�s Guild, a student organization at Grand Valley, mentored 20 seventh- and eighth-grade students from North Park Montessori Academy in Grand Rapids as they created multiple stop-motion animation videos for Kent County Friend of the Court. The animations will help educate the community about the organization and its services.

Students learn the art exhibition process through competition showcase

The 5th Annual Juried Student Exhibition will be on display through March 30 in the Padnos Student Art and Design Gallery located in Calder Art Center on the Allendale Campus. An award ceremony and special reception will take place Wednesday, March 22, from 4:30-6 p.m.
