Nursing grad student wins thesis competition
Fifteen graduate students, representing a variety of disciplines at Grand Valley, competed in the 3-Minute Thesis competition February 15 in Loosemore Auditorium in the DeVos Center. During the competition, sponsored by The Graduate School, students had three minutes to present their research to a panel of judges. Students were competing for prize money and a chance to advance to the Midwest Association of Graduate Schools 3-Minute Thesis Competition in Grand Rapids in April.

Student-produced play "Oleanna" to explore the subjectivity of the truth
A curious and questionable interaction between two fictional characters, a college professor and a student, during the professor's office hours, leads to a difference of opinion about what actually took place in that office. This plot sets the stage for the upcoming performances of "Oleanna," which will take place February 22-24, at 7:30 p.m., and February 25, at 2 p.m. All performances will take place in the Linn Maxwell Keller Black Box Theatre, located in the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Haas Center for Performing Arts.

Alumna awarded fellowship to research history of people of color in youth theater programs
Shavonne Coleman, '07, has been named a 2018 Theatre for Young Audience Emerging Leader Fellow. In the spring, she will travel to Arizona State University to research the history of people of color involved in youth theater programs. Coleman is currently serving as a visiting professor of theater.
