Premiere set for 23rd Summer Film Project "For the Birds"
"For the Birds," the 23rd annual Summer Film Project at Grand Valley, will make its debut on the silver screen during an upcoming screening. The event will take place April 26 at Celebration! Cinema North and IMAX, located at 2121 Celebration Drive NE in Grand Rapids. "For the Birds" was written by James Sturtridge, a senior majoring in film and video production who also served as first assistant director on the crew.

The first time Gleaves Whitney met former first lady Barbara Bush, who died April 17 at the age of 92, he was a middle-school-aged kid who lived in the Houston neighborhood one over from where the Bush family lived. Whitney, who is the director of the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley State University, said he remembers being struck by her focus on whomever she was speaking with.
