Andrew is a master’s student in Data Science and a dedicated advocate for the graduate student community. As an international student, he understands how challenging it can be to adjust to a new academic environment, navigate unfamiliar systems, build community, and find a sense of belonging while pursuing graduate studies. Through his service as Administration Officer in the Graduate Student Association, he worked closely with GSA operations, helping strengthen communication, coordination, and support for graduate students. That experience gave him a deeper understanding of the real issues students face, from transitioning into graduate school to balancing academic, professional, and personal responsibilities along the way.

He believes leadership is about listening, showing up, and helping create solutions that make students feel seen, supported, and empowered. With his experience, perspective, and commitment to service, he hopes to help build a stronger graduate community where every student feels they belong and has the support they need to succeed.

Stella Ndiritu

Hi everyone! I’m Stella Ndiritu, a Cybersecurity graduate student at GVSU with a passion for bringing structure, and impact to everything I do. My journey in tech has been shaped by hands-on experience as a Security Engineer, where I’ve worked on securing systems, managing risks, and supporting organizations in building resilient infrastructures. I enjoy solving complex problems and bringing clarity to fast-paced environments. Beyond the technical side, I’m passionate about leadership, and helping teams work more efficiently. I’ve led peer learning group initiatives, supported digital transformation efforts for SME’s beyond protecting systems that keep things accountable, especially when it comes to managing resources effectively. With an interest in both technology and organizational operations, I value transparency, and accountability. I’m particularly excited about opportunities that allow me to contribute to a more engaging, supportive, and well-coordinated graduate student community.

My range of experiences in helpdesk and community engagement have shaped my strong attention to detail, and analytical mindset. Volunteer opportunities especially among communities in cybersecurity have defined how I structure systems and remain accountable to those I serve. I am confident in my ability to manage budgets responsibly, ensure transparency, and support the GSA in making informed financial decisions that benefit all graduate students.

Ivy Lily Muriungi

Hi there! I am Ivy Lily Muriungi, a graduate student born and raised in Kenya. I came to Grand Valley State University with a clear mission, which was to bridge the gap between complex health data and the communities that need it most. Pursuing my Master’s in Health Informatics and Bioinformatics, I am passionate about the idea that information, when communicated well, has the power to transform lives.

As your Communications Officer, I see my role as more than managing social media and newsletters; it is about making sure every graduate student at GVSU feels seen, heard, and connected. Whether you are a first-semester student trying to find your footing or a seasoned grad student looking for community, I want the GSA to be a space you can count on for timely, relevant, and meaningful communication.

When I am not chasing deadlines or drafting newsletters, you will find me cooking up something new in the kitchen, exploring cuisines from around the world, staying active at the gym, having a good laugh watching comedy shows, or diving into a good book. I am a firm believer that the richness of life outside the classroom is what makes us better students, better colleagues, and better humans, and I bring that wholeness into everything I do.

I am excited to serve this incredible graduate community and to make the GSA a place every student is proud to be part of.
