Graduate Alum Presents at Research Conference

Eric (Haikun) Li graduated from the Master of Science in Engineering program at GVSU in April 2014. During his final semester at GVSU, Eric participated in the Graduate Showcase event with a poster presentation of his research in lithium-ion battery recycling.

In November 2014, Eric presented at Argonne National Laboratory's 2014 CSUI Graduate Research Conference in Lemont, Illinois. His advisor, Dr. Lindsay Corneal in the GVSU School of Engineering, described his work:

In his work, Eric used acid baths to separate the active material coatings from the copper and aluminum foils that act as the current collectors within the cells. The acids reacted with the metals in the foils and degraded the adhesion of the coatings, allowing for the separation of the coatings from the foils. The metal foils were then able to be recycled.
